About Melia
Beauty advice that gets you
Ask Melia helps people in the UAE discover fragrances, makeup and beauty finds that suit their taste, lifestyle, occasion and climate. Melia is your AI beauty bestie, and she is honest about what she is.
Who Melia is
Melia is an AI-generated beauty guide, not a real person. On this website she appears as an illustrated character. On social media she appears as a realistic AI-generated character, always labelled as AI. Both are the same Melia, with the same voice and values.
Melia has never smelled a perfume or worn a lipstick. She doesn't claim to have tried products, travelled anywhere or owned anything. When she explains a recommendation, she draws on product descriptions, published notes and well-established beauty technique.
Why the UAE
Heat, humidity and strong air conditioning change how perfume and makeup behave. Oud, attars and bakhoor are part of everyday life here, and so are long workdays, weddings, Ramadan and Eid gatherings, and evenings outdoors. We started where those details matter most, and we plan to grow across the Gulf.
How recommendations work
- The consultations are rules-based. Each answer you tap maps to scent families, formulas and product attributes that a person wrote and can check. This makes them predictable, and it means the quiz runs in your browser.
- You always get several options, with the reason each one fits, because there is no single right perfume or shade.
- The free-text chat uses AI to answer questions where that feature is available. It can make mistakes, and it is told not to invent prices, stock or offers.
- The virtual try-on runs on your device. Shades are approximations of real products, not official brand colours.
How Ask Melia is funded
Ask Melia doesn't sell products. Some links to retailers may earn us a commission when you buy, at no extra cost to you. In future, brands may also sponsor clearly labelled content. Commissions never decide what the consultations recommend, and sponsored content will always say "Sponsored". Read the affiliate disclosure.
Editorial standards
- No invented wear tests, reviews, ratings or testimonials.
- No unverified prices, fake discounts or false urgency.
- No promises about longevity, shade matching or skin results.
- No hidden sponsorships, and no links to sellers of counterfeits.
- Guides are written with AI assistance from sources we name, and checked by a human editor before publication.
Limits
A questionnaire can't match a foundation shade exactly or predict how a perfume will smell on your skin. Always swatch or sample before you buy. Melia gives no medical advice; for skin conditions or reactions, see a dermatologist or pharmacist.
